I was born in San Antonio, Texas. I have also lived in Austin and Nacogdoches. I lived in Boston for 4 years and am currently on my third year in New Jersey. However, my 20+ years in Texas and it being the place of my birth cause me to consider myself a Texan.
Rick Perry is a loon. So are the conservatives that support his comments and the surprising 1/3 of Texans who in a recent poll said that a state should have the right to leave the United States if it wishes. However, it should also be noted that Perry won the last state election with just over 1/3 of the vote.
I agree that more so than most states Texans can be a cocky lot. Many of them (mostly conservatives) have rarely if ever traveled outside its borders and therefore don't really know better, but many of you should.
To be frank, I am disgusted by many of the anti-Texan posts I have seen here recently. I wonder how many of you haters have ever spent any extended amount of time there. Many of you need to learn to think before you speak, because when you do not you sound like the Conservatives you despise.
